Getting an Intellectual Disability Diagnosis
The diagnosis of an intellectual disability in children is based on the results of psychological assessment which is usually conducted by a developmental pediatrician or a psychologist. This assessment may include interviews, observation, testing and consultation with other professionals involved in your child’s care. You can contact a psychological professional directly to have this assessment completed, or if your child is of school-age, your district school board may be able to assist you in getting an assessment done.
