Autism Services

Canopy Support Services has been a regional provider of autism services in Northumberland, Peterborough, City of Kawartha Lakes, and Haliburton since 1999.

As a result of changes to the Ontario Autism Program (OAP), Canopy Support Services is now offering a range of fee-for-service options so that children and families continue to have access to high-quality behavioural services in their communities. Effective April 1, 2019, families can use OAP Childhood Budgets/Interim One-Time Funding, their own funds, or other funding sources, to purchase the services they value most from the provider of their choice. Canopy Support Services will continue to offer these fee-for-service options until the Ministry rolls out the new needs-based autism program some time in 2021.

Children who currently have a behaviour plan will continue to receive services outlined in the plan until its end date. At that point, behaviour plans can then be extended with no gap in service up to their current level of intensity, or less where clinically appropriate, until families transition into core services in the new needs-based autism program.

While our service model has changed, Canopy Support Services remains committed to providing services and supports aimed at improving the quality of life and well-being of children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families.
