CMEY Playdate Success!

We had an incredible morning at our first ever weekend CMEY Playdate back in August, welcoming children and caregivers who are currently or previously enrolled in the Caregiver Mediated Early Years (CMEY) program through Foundational Family Services.

The Autism Services Clinic came alive with:

  • Social skill-building and playful exploration

  • Outdoor fun (yes, the frisbees and plasma cars were a hit!)

  • Creative activities like painting and water play

  • Heartfelt connections between caregivers

One of our staff shared: "A couple highlights from the CMEY group were that the kiddos who came participated in ALL activities and games we brought out. Another highlight was seeing parents come together, chat, and hang out—it was such a great vibe!"

It was a beautiful celebration of the skills these little ones have been practicing—communication, collaboration, and making new friends—while giving caregivers a chance to relax, connect, and build community.

Thanks to everyone who joined us and made the morning so special!

A Good Day Starts with a Positive Morning Routine!

Some tips for creating your own morning routine include:

  1. When you wake up, take three deep breaths to ease into your morning

  2. Find a cozy spot with a warm blanket, and put on some calming music or a meditation. Many great playlists and meditations can be found on YouTube or the app “Insight Timer”. Bonus, it’s free!

  3. Write out five things you are grateful for and a morning reflection or intention for your day

  4. Finish with three more deep breaths and begin your day

A morning routine doesn’t have to take long!

Just a simple practice to help us start the day right.

Land Acknowledgment

In recognition of and respect for Indigenous People and their territory both in the past and the present. It is with a clear and open heart, mind and body that we at Canopy Support Services acknowledge that we are located on the traditional territory of the Mississauga Anishinaabeg (ANISH-AN-AW-BE) and Chippewa (CHIP-EH-WA) Nations. We honor these communities as the original and current stewards’ and caretakers of this land and water ensuring their health for future generations while teaching us about our relations to the earth. The land we reside upon is situated within the Williams Treaty (1923) and Treaty 20 (1818). We are dedicated to honoring Indigenous history and culture and committed to moving forward in the spirit of reconciliation and respect with all First nation, Metis and Inuit people. We respect these communities’ strength and resiliency and together we hold space for the ones who came before us and the generations to follow us in our path to truth and reconciliation.
