Youth Recreational Program: Gymnastics

🤸♀️✨ Gymnastics meets growth! This exciting recreational program blends the fun of gymnastics with the science of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) to support kids ages 7–12 in developing motor, social, and communication skills. Held at the Peterborough YMCA, this small-group class offers individualized 1:1 support to ensure every child feels safe, successful, and included. This group is being run in partnership with the YMCA.
What to Expect:
🏃♂️ Motor Skills: Kids build balance, coordination, strength, and body awareness through dynamic movement.
🗣️ Communication Skills: Learners practice requesting equipment, asking for help, and commenting on activities.
🤝 Social Skills: Turn-taking, teamwork, and peer encouragement are all part of the fun.
🧠 Behavioural Goals: Children work on following directions, transitioning between activities, and waiting with ease.
🌈 Self-Regulation: Calming strategies are taught during sensory-rich experiences to help kids stay cool and confident.
This group is geared towards children/youth with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis and is an OAP-eligible expense.
