🚀 Connect Crew is a 7-week adventure for teens 14+ to master life skills, explore, & grow! Build Skills, Gain Independence & Have Fun! 🍕🏊🎳

🌟Calling all teens (14+) with ASD—it's time to unlock your potential! Connect Crew is a dynamic 7-week journey, where executive functioning skills meet real-world adventures. We’ll spend our time learning, growing, and having fun together! Experience the skills firsthand: Grocery shopping, bowling, swimming, eating at restaurants, and navigating the city bus—all while making friends and having fun!🏊🎳🍽

💡 These essential life skills will help you gain independence in decision-making, job readiness, schoolwork, and leisure—even in everyday activities like meal prep, shopping, and commuting!

Group Details:

  • 📅 7-week program starting June 30 (no sessions July 28 or August 4)

  • 🕕 Mondays, 6-8:30 PM

  • 📍 First session at main office, then various locations around town

  • 🚍 City bus trips + Pick up and Drop-off sites will vary per activity

  • 👨‍👩‍👦 Caregivers attend first & last session for document review

  • 🎊 August 25: Final celebration with pizza party & slideshow! 🍕🎉

  • 🔟 Limited to 10 participants

  • 🎯 Cost: $4,140 for the entire 7 week group

This group is geared towards youth with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis and is an OAP-eligible expense; however it is open to any youth who identify with girlhood.

What to Expect: Over six weeks, you’ll explore the foundations of DBT and build your own personalized coping toolbox.

🌟 Stepping Out in Cobourg with Confidence is perfect for teens who are ready to take the next step toward independence—on their own terms! 🌟

Stepping Out with Confidence is a 4-week Applied Behaviour Analysts (ABA)-based group designed just for teens on the Autism Spectrum who are eager to build independence, social skills, and real-world confidence—at their own pace.

Each week, teens will join a small, supportive group of peers to:
Practice executive functioning skills like planning, organizing, and managing time.
Build social confidence through engaging, real-life interactions.
Go on guided community outings—ordering at a restaurant, navigating public spaces like the YMCA, or shopping with a purpose.

Led by experienced ABA therapists, this group provides a low-pressure, encouraging environment where teens can grow, make friends, and develop skills they'll use every day.

Group Details:

  • 📅 Dates: Weekly from July 16, 2025 – August 6, 2025

  • Time: 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM

  • 📍 Location: Canopy Support Services Cobourg, 975 Elgin St. West, Cobourg, ON

Children's Friendship Training

Children’s Friendship Training Social Skills Group

Join us for a 8 week group focusing on social skills and making friends! The group lessons and programming will be clinically supervised by a Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA).

Skills Focus:

  • Starting a conversation

  • Ending a conversation

  • Maintaining a conversation

  • Sharing information on interests

  • Understanding non-verbal communication

  • How to make and keep friends

Group Details:

  • This group is intended for children with Autism between the ages of 8-12 years old.

  • Group begins on Wednesday, April 9th from 6-7pm and runs for 8 weeks.

  • Each week will be a 1 hour lesson for caregivers and children.

  • This group takes place in person at our Peterborough office.

  • EXCITING NEWS: We know the cost of skill-building groups for children/youth with autism and their parents/guardians can be significant.  Given the clinical oversight and expertise involved, we recognize the investment required.  To support families in accessing these valuable services, we are grateful to be able to offer a one-time reduced price for this group, thanks to recent donations to our Canopy Cares Support Fund! The price of this group has been reduced by $200 per person for up to 8 participants.

  • The fee for this 8 week group is $2340.

Social Skills Group

PEERS for Adolescents is a 14-week evidence-based social skills program for adolescents in middle and high school who are interested in making and keeping friends and/or handling conflict and rejection.

Participants will learn:

  • Developing and Maintaining Friendships

  • Conversational skills

  • Entering and exiting conversations

  • Appropriate use of humor

  • Handling disagreements

  • Electronic communication

  • Being a good sport

  • Organizing get-togethers

  • Handling teasing and bullying

  • Changing Reputations

Group Details:

  • This group is for teens with a diagnosis of Autism, aged 13-17 years old.

  • This 14 week group begins Thursday, March 20th 2025, and runs until Thursday, June 19th, 2025.

  • Each week the group will take place from 6-7pm and participants are taught social skills through didactic lessons and role-play demonstrations and practice these skills during group socialization activities.

  • Parents attend separate sessions simultaneously and are taught how to assist adolescents in making and keeping friends (parent participation Is required).

  • This group takes place in person at our Peterborough office.
