🌞 Sunshine & Smiles Summer Fun Day

A Sensory-Friendly Event for Young Children on the Autism Spectrum

Join us for Sunshine & Smiles Summer Fun Day, a free, sensory-friendly summer event specially designed for children ages 5 and under on the autism spectrum. This joyful celebration offers a welcoming and supportive environment where children can play, explore, and connect while creating happy summer memories.

💙 What to Expect

This fun-filled event features a variety of engaging indoor and outdoor activities that encourage creativity, movement, and connection. Each activity is designed with flexibility in mind, allowing children to participate at their own pace while building confidence and enjoying new experiences.

Children can enjoy:

  • 🎨 Arts and crafts

  • 🛝 Playground adventures in a fully fenced outdoor space

  • 🎯 Outdoor games and interactive play

  • 💦 Water balloon fun and sprinkler play

  • 🍧 Summer treats and refreshments

🌈 Learning Through Play

Throughout the day, children will take part in play-based, supported learning opportunities that help develop:

  • Social skills

  • Communication skills

  • Positive peer interactions

All activities are guided and supported by our dedicated team of Autism Services staff, who are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable experience for every child.

  • 🕐 Time: 1:00pm - 3:00pm

  • 📍 Location: Main office @ 150 O’Carroll Ave, Peterborough

  • 🅿️ Drop-Off Instructions: Parents and caregivers should park in the lower parking lot and head to the side doors labelled “Autism Services Clinic” An Autism Services rep will be there to meet the kids, introduce themselves, and get the fun started!

Note: This event is for children registered with the Ontario Autism Program (OAP) and under the age of 5. An OAP number is required to register.

Cost: Free of charge

Join us for Summer Splash & Creativity Day, a free, sensory-friendly summer event designed for children ages 6–12 on the autism spectrum. This exciting day offers a welcoming and inclusive environment where children can explore, create, connect, and enjoy summer fun at their own pace.

💙 What to Expect

This engaging event features a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities that encourage creativity, independence, and connection. Each activity is thoughtfully designed to allow children to participate in a way that feels comfortable and enjoyable for them.

Children can enjoy:

  • 🎨 Tie-dye creations and arts and crafts

  • 🎯 Outdoor games and interactive play

  • 💦 Water play and summer splash activities

  • 🛝 Playground fun in a fully fenced outdoor space

  • 🍧 Summer treats and refreshments

Throughout the day, children will take part in both structured and unstructured play opportunities that support the development of important life skills, including:

  • Social interaction and communication

  • Teamwork and cooperation

  • Problem-solving skills

A Sensory-Friendly Event for Teens on the Autism Spectrum

Join us for a fun, inclusive, and welcoming Teen Summer Bash, thoughtfully designed for teens on the autism spectrum. This sensory-friendly event creates a safe and supportive environment where teens can relax, connect with peers, and enjoy summer activities at their own pace.

💙 What to Expect

This engaging event is supported by experienced Autism Services staff who provide guidance, encouragement, and individualized support throughout the evening. Teens will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities that promote:

  • Social interaction and peer connection

  • Communication skills

  • Emotional regulation and flexibility

  • Problem-solving and independence

  • Confidence-building in a supportive setting

All activities are thoughtfully structured to encourage meaningful participation while respecting each teen’s comfort level and preferences.

🎬 Relax & Enjoy

Teens can unwind during our featured movie experience—and even have a say in what we watch! Stay tuned for an opportunity to vote on the movie selection.

  • A calm, relaxed environment perfect for socializing or simply recharging

🚗 Drop-Off Instructions: Parents and caregivers should park in the upper/lower parking lot and use the Main doors to access the Main Office. An Autism Services representative will greet your teen, provide support, and help get the fun started! 🎉


Please Note: This group is for children aged 13-17 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who are registered with the Ontario Autism Program (OAP). Limited spots available!
